Power Plays in Palestine

Jordan's decision to begin supplying electricity to Jericho last Monday - with the intention of the Egyptians do exactly the same in Gaza -- sends a clear message that finally lights light up for the first time in 40 years - which could be announced the beginning of the end of the darkness and the darkness that marked the long Arab-Jewish conflict over the territory once called Palestine.
Jordan and Egypt have said they are acting for humanitarian reasons to residents Arabs from the West Bank and Gaza, instead of trying to rule again on the West Bank and Gaza, because they are, respectively, between 1948-1967.
But Jordanian political analyst Saleh Zaytoun took a different view, adding that this new offering is "political background", which he describes as "a Guard reminiscence of these countries once provided "in Gaza and the West Bank before they were kidnapped by Israel in the Six Day War of 1967.
The Jordanian authorities and even the King Abdullah to try to minimize the political consequences of the decision of the Jordan. However, it is clear that this action can not be be committed with the consent of Israel - and perhaps not even apply to the decision by Egypt to do the same in 18 months when the electricity network in Gaza has been completed.
Fifteen years after Oslo and the creation of the Palestinian Authority to negotiate with Israel an end to the Arab-Jewish Authority has been reduced to a fragment impotent and ineffectual as his strongest rival - Hamas - took control of Gaza and openly boasts that it can reverse the order of Palestinian Authority in the occupied Arab territories West Bank, whenever they want.
Five years vainly trying to implement road map by President Bush to create a new Arab state between Israel, Egypt and Jordan also revealed a disastrous failure. The participation of the negotiating team of the strongest ever assembled in the history of world diplomacy -- America United Nations, Russia and the European Union - has not even succeeded in translating the vision from a distance by the President in fact.
With President Bush set to retire later this year almost everybody has depreciated ultimate goal of the roadmap as a "mission impossible" to achieve that then.
Neither candidate for president of the United States - John McCain, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton - has not made any commitment to see the vision of the mandate President Bush after it is no longer President. Any light at the end of the tunnel is fast disappearing despite the frantic efforts of the negotiating teams Israel and the Palestinian Authority provide otherwise.
Israel's contacts only positive and lasting Arab-Israeli conflict has been the peace treaties signed between Israel and Egypt in 1978 and Israel and Jordan in 1994. The two peace treaties have withstood the pressures of many that could easily put an end to their abrupt and remained in the face of numerous attempts to get away. It is a tribute to the political leaders of each country to have resisted the temptation to succumb to such attempts.
A peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinian Authority becomes impossible. Requirements of the Authority for the return of every square meter of the West Bank and Gaza and demand that millions allowed to settle Arabs in Israel are not negotiable and can not and will not be respected by Israel. In taking this position in Israel is backed by a commitment by written by President Bush.
Jordan and Egypt are not blind to the bleak future that awaits the Arab residents of Gaza and the West Bank, once the road is finally declared dead and buried as seems inevitable for the next U.S. president taking office in January 2009.
Now the lights are switched off in Gaza as Israel girds its loins for a vigorous response to constant rocket and mortar attacks launched daily from Gaza indiscriminately into population centers civilian in Israel.
The establishment of another Arab state in the small area of land between Jordan, Israel and Egypt has always been an impasse is fed only by the uncompromising demands of the Arab League and the dream of a well intentioned but poorly informed President Bush, who has become - like so many other presidents before he has discovered to his regret - a victim the bad advice provided by the State Department has a great team of former diplomats who have served in 22 Arab States and 45 other Muslim states.
The Division of the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, Egypt and Israel - to redraw the boundaries between them - still the only possible solution to end the humanitarian catastrophe is inevitable unless the stalemate is over.
Jordan and Egypt, need at least recover the role they occupied in the Arab territories occupied West Bank and Gaza between 1948-1967 and take control over life and destiny of the Arabs.
Neither the Authority Palestine or Hamas have shown that they can remotely to end the conflict. Nor has the authority to Hamas or renounced their desire to see Israel wiped off the map - a kind they both seem to themselves suffer from lost opportunities during the years of fruitless negotiations and power plays among themselves.
"Electricity" to really become the buzzword that electrifies the region into action.
Hopefully this will be little more than 20 bulbs low watt-try to operate at 100 watts taken.
